There are lots and lots of ways you can get your site noticed and bring in more quality visitors. But as more services like your own start it becomes harder and harder to make your site stand out! Here are some tips to get some quality hits:
Sticking posters up:
Make sure you design the posters well, make them like your best client.
Make your web site URL and name be obvious, but not overwhelming.
Make the poster eye catching and to the color scheme of your site. (Colour full, Exiting, etc...)
Stick it in a good place, walk around a bit, try find out where possible clients might be.
Do not over advertise. (Most important, stick up to many posters or anything, people will get annoyed.)
Also you could hand out business cards:
Don't be stupid with them and give them to every one, or you'll waste all your money.
Make sure they fit the color scheme of your site and/ or your posters.
Clear, gets the message across.
Right size. (Sounds stupid, but important, some people will throw them away if they don't fit in there wallet)
Make usefully things (Web Address, Email) stand out more than the design (But make sure that stands out too)
Magazines:
a bit like a poster, but with more writing.
Make sure you don't make it like the other ads.
Mabey add some pictures of your previous work. (The best ones)
Make sure at the bottom you have alittle bit of room to write about yourself and your business.
Think about what you write (Don't make it boring what ever you do!)
A bit of humor, try get the reader to look at it.

Newspapers:
Prtty much the same as the magazine.
Remember you most likly won't be able to use colour (So you wont be able to use it to attract people)
Alot more bussiness men/women will proberly read the newspaper, so show off/bost about your skills more.
Tell them all the stuff your capable off (Don't sound like a stuck up prat though)
Make it more formal, intressting and informing.
Make contact details clear and obvious.
If your average prices are high, do not put them, say you'll give quotes.
Remember, if you've got bussiness cards make sure you keep a few in your pocket. Also if you get a magazine or newspaper advert, make sure you leave the magazine on your table or somthing, so if a visitor comes to your house, they might just read it!
Also make profiles for you and your site on social network sites like MySpace, Facebook. Add entrys to digg and other bookmarking services. Submit to Yell.com, FreeIndex, Google Maps, etc...
